Tyro's published Australian rates
Rates include GST
| Payment type | Published rate | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| In person (card present) | 1.4% | Published transaction fee across Pro Touch, Pro Key, Pro Lite and Tap to Pay on your phone. |
| Online | 1.4% | Payment Links, including GST, for domestic and international Visa and Mastercard, and for Amex OptBlue merchants. |
| Manually keyed / card on file | 1.4% | Payment Links, including GST. |
| International cards | Not separately published | No distinct international rate appears on the published pricing we checked. The calculator applies this provider's domestic rate to international volume, so the real cost could be higher. |
Tyro states the 1.4% Payment Links rate is inclusive of GST.
Monthly and fixed costs
Tyro publishes $29/month for Tyro Pro (Pro Touch and Pro Key), $19/month for Tyro Pro Lite, and no monthly terminal rental for Tap to Pay on your phone. The calculator defaults to $29. Change the monthly fee field if you are on Pro Lite or Tap to Pay.
Other published charges
| Charge | Published amount |
|---|---|
| Joining / cancellation | Tyro states zero joining fee and no cancellation or break fees |
| Amex Classic merchants | If you hold a direct American Express (Classic) agreement with your own negotiated rates, Tyro states it charges a 0.1% switch fee (excluding GST) instead of the 1.4% OptBlue rate, and Amex bills you directly under your own agreement |
Negotiating. Tyro states businesses transacting $20k+ per month can request a custom quote on their transaction fee.

Compare it against the others
A rate on its own tells you very little. What matters is what it comes to across a year of your actual turnover, at your actual average ticket, with your actual mix of in-person and online.
- Run your numbers through the calculator - it prices every provider on this list side by side
- What it comes to in your trade - a pub, a salon and a clinic costed side by side
Once you know the number, the next question is what you do about it
BookMyVenue is booking, ordering and POS software with published pricing and zero commission on every booking. It does not replace your payment provider and it does not change your processing rate - but it does mean the software sitting on top of those payments costs a flat monthly fee instead of a slice of every sale.
