Calendly is meeting-scheduling software around a person's calendar and a shareable link. BookMyVenue is a business diary around services, staff and a venue. An unfair comparison is a defect, so this page starts with where Calendly wins.
Where Calendly is genuinely better than us
- It is free to start and useful at zero cost. “Always free” with a customisable booking page and browser extension. For a sole operator with one service and one calendar, that is a real working product for $0.
- Customers never pay and never need an account. Meeting invitees do not require a seat or a Calendly account, no login wall on the booking side.
- Best-in-class personal availability. Multiple schedules per user, public-holiday blocking, and delegated availability editing for people who are not the host.
- Sophisticated multi-person meeting logic. Round Robin, Collective (all hosts free) and Group events are first-class features.
- It embeds properly on your website. Inline, pop-up text and pop-up widget, not link-only. Branding can be removed on paid plans.
- Money goes straight to you. Payments via Stripe or PayPal land in your processor account; Calendly does not hold the funds. Customer payments can be collected in AUD.
- SMS consent is handled properly. Invitees must opt in before automated texts, a compliance strength, including under Australian spam rules. When credits run out, texts stop and email takes over rather than failing silently.
Where a business’s problem is genuinely “let people book time with me,” Calendly is an excellent and cheap answer. The rest of this page turns on what happens when every staff member and every room needs a seat, what Australian SMS credits allow, and that the subscription is billed in USD.

No AUD subscription price is published
Calendly’s help centre states most subscriptions are processed in USD. Local-currency billing is offered for new subscriptions in the UK (GBP) and the Eurozone (EUR). Australia is not listed. Enterprise is stated as “Available in USD only.” We print no AUD Calendly figure and we do not convert one. The AUD amount an Australian card is charged depends on that card’s FX rate on the day.

Separate fact, do not conflate: Calendly can collect customer payments in AUD via Stripe. That is the client’s payment currency, not the subscription billing currency.

Per seat, including rooms
Pricing is per seat, per month. Each host who connects a calendar and takes bookings needs their own paid seat. Calendly’s own documented method for conference rooms is to add each room as a new user with a unique login and a paid seat, so a room costs a full seat. (Zapier and manual assignment are the other documented workarounds.)

SMS to Australian numbers is credit-metered
SMS is not on the Free plan. Paid non-Enterprise plans include 250 SMS credits per seat per month. Australia sits in the 1-credit tier, so that is 250 messages to AU numbers per seat. US/Canada messages can cost zero credits. That free-in-the-US case does not apply here. No per-message dollar rate is published; the unit is a credit.
